MICHAEL ENGLAND NINETEENTH IN 'DIAMOND NATIONALS'

Posted May 12, 2008
Making a return to racing after suffering a broken wrist a month prior, Michael England and his #5e Dirt Late Model team invaded the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri from May 9-11 for the 2nd Annual 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the mega-event and a $40,000 top prize was up for grabs. The cameras of the SPEED Channel were on hand throughout the extended Mothers Day weekend to tape all of the dirt-slinging action for broadcast later in year.

The Glasgow, Kentucky native timed in third fastest in his group during Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying on Friday night, May 9. Following a rain-out on Saturday evening, the rest of the 'SuperClean Diamond Nationals' took place on Sunday at the 3/8-mile, semi-banked speedplant. Michael ran third in his heat race, which earned him the outside eighth row starting spot for the $40,000 to win A-Main. The "Slick Rock Express" was trying to work his way up through the stout field in the 100-lap feature event until he was involved in a multi-car collision on the backstretch on lap 39. Due to the damage inflicted to his #5e Bloomquist entry during the incident, Michael was forced to retire from the race in the nineteenth position. MICHAEL ENGLAND HAS SURGERY ON WRIST... OUT 10-14 WEEKS

Posted April 8, 2008
Michael England had surgery today, April 8, to repair his wrist from a racing incident that took place last Friday night at the Screven (GA) Motor Speedway. Michael was involved in a wreck during heat race action and got his wrist stuck in the steering wheel. Unfortunately, doctors determined that surgery was necessary and Michael went under the knife today. A steel plate and screws were used to help his broken wrist heal properly and swiftly.

However, the medical staff has advised Michael that he should stay out of Dirt Late Model competition for 10-14 weeks. He will likely make his return to action somewhere around the first of July if things go as planned. Keep up-to-date on Michael and his #5e team online at www.michaelengland5e.com.

ENGLAND SUFFERS MISFORTUNE IN GEORGIA...

Posted April 7, 2008
The Michael England Racing team traveled south to the Peachtree State of Georgia over the weekend to compete in a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tripleheader weekend. The Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, Georgia kicked things off on Thursday night, April 3 with a $7,000 to win show. Michael England had a rough go of things throughout the night at Swainsboro, as he finished seventh in his heat race and eighth in his B-Main. Both of those efforts were not good enough to transfer the Glasgow, Kentucky driver into the 30-lap feature event.

Things went from bad to worse for the "Slick Rock Express" on Friday evening, April 4 at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia. Michael was involved in an incident during his heat race, which broke his wrist. Needless to say, he was done for the evening and did not compete in the rest of the $10,000 to win event at Screven or the $10,000 to win show at the Golden Isles (GA) Speedway the following day.
